As classic film star Barbara Stanwyck once mused, “career is too pompous a word. It [is] a job and I have always felt privileged to be paid for doing what I love doing.” The pride exuded in such an affirmation is the driving force behind my own success with Betsey Johnson. By working in such a creative space over the last four years I have developed a knack for helping others discover their own style. Having been molded and influenced by a pack of always-put-together-no-matter-what Latinas growing up, the hyper-colorful Betsey cauldron is an ideal recipe for getting my creative juices flowing.

So why the Stanwyck reference you ask? My other creative paramour is the cinema. I earned my undergraduate degree at Boston’s Emerson College majoring in both film studies and literature. I find that my personal affinity for classic Hollywood glamour and elegance allows me to paint a picture in the minds of my customers. My equation is simple, when a customer feels styled they walk away feeling like a star. The special confidence I relish in while parading in my own Betsey ensembles is what many of my own clients feel after being liberated to style themselves with Betsey’s inspiring collections.

As for future plans, I hope to leave for grad school in the UK next year to find my place within the workings of the world film business. I am honored to be in the Pink Spotlight this month though as Katharine Hepburn put it, “there are no laurels in life…just new challenges.”

Jackie Fitzgerald
Store Manager - Santa Barbara

I’m Jackie Rose, but my nickname is Bubbles because I love people, I love life, and I absolutely ADORE being a Pink Lady! Our pink palace on State Street is where I create, dream, discover, and come alive. I’m head over my high heels in love with working for Betsey Johnson. Fashion is my passion, styling is my forte, and getting new shipments makes me weak in the knees. I treasure connecting with people and helping them discover themselves through Betsey’s creations. Although I’ve been to Paris, London, Milan and Tokyo to study fashion, there is no place like Santa Barbara to me. When I’m around town, I enjoy buying high heels, people watching, kissing my puppies, dressing like a 1920’s socialite and laughing until it hurts with my amazing friends and family. I love creating wearable art; I am sooo there with anything that involves pink tulle, rhinestones, feathers and a hot glue gun! My heroes in life are Betsey, Christina Aguilera, Marilyn Monroe, and my beautiful Momma. I am so excited about growing with this amazing company and all that the future holds….it’s gonna be fabulous!

Kelly Jancescki
Store Manager - Coral Gables

Hi there! I am a very fun Brazilian girl, who speaks Portuguese, Spanish and English, with a funny Brazilian accent of course. I have known myself for 27 years and I am pretty well rounded. My life is full of adventures. One of my passions is traveling. I come from a small town in Brazil called Uruguaiana, on the border of Argentina. I moved to the capital when I was a teenager and since that moment I couldn’t stop traveling. So, I consider myself a pretty clean and very stylish kind of gypsy (and a little bit O.C.D as well). One of the many places I have lived is Boston. I lived in Boston for 3 years, and there I started living in the Land of Betsey. In the mean time, I met a really hot Venezuelan guy; I fell in love with him and vice-versa. Unfortunately, he had to move to Miami. Suddenly, I saw myself alone in the freezing cold weather of the North. As a passionate person I had to follow my instinct of love and I decided to make the move to hot and sunny Miami. So here I am, a year later blonder, tanner and managing the Coral Gables Store. It has truly been an amazing experience. Come what may, my life and closet are surrounded by Betsey Johnson!

Laura is kinda weird. She likes playing the pipe organ alone or with other wizards. She has a bookclub and a deadbeat club. She likes to sing and dance and play croquet but whatever she’s doing she’s always wearing Betsey!

Tara Pettinato
Store Manager - Austin

Hello world! My name is Tara and I am the manager of the beautiful Betsey Johnson store in Austin, Texas.

I have been stompin' around in glitter pollys and cowboy boots in the Austin store since it opened in March of 2007 and the time has just flown by! My love for Betsey began in 8th grade when I went with my class to Washington D.C. for a field trip. A couple of my friends and I stopped into the D.C. store and it was love at first site. As much as a tom boy as I was, I couldn't help but foam at the mouth over the flowered decor and poofy dresses. A few years later as a 16 year-old in south Florida, my obsession with Betsey continued and I got my first job as a sales associate at the Aventura store. I eventually wound up in Austin after college (go Longhorns!) and am still equally obsessed with Betsey's designs to this day! Working in Austin is so much fun, the sweet girls that I spend my days with at the store are such a blast to be around and we have developed such strong friendships with each other and our customers. On my days off when I am not hanging out in the store for fun and making purring noises over the Betsey strap'em down satchel that I want REALLY badly, I enjoy playing with my little dachshund Sam, bike riding around Austin with my kid brother Robby, feeding my unhealthy ebay obsession, vintage shopping, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with my amazing group of friends.
